CDTi's Catalyzed Diesel Particulate Filter Technology Approved for Patent Grant
VENTURA, Calif., Nov. 8, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (CDTI) ("CDTi"), a cleantech emissions control company, is pleased to announce that its Catalyst Division was notified by the United States Patent and Trademark Office that its platinum group metal-free catalyzed diesel particulate filter ("DPF") technology has been approved for patent. When combined with a diesel oxidation catalyst, this breakthrough DPF technology which utilizes absolutely no costly platinum group metals, or "PGMs" reduces harmful particulate matter produced by diesel engines by over 95 percent.
Various methods to reduce harmful diesel engine exhaust have been used worldwide in response to increasingly stringent regulations put in place by government agencies, but these methods generally require the use of precious metals which are expensive and often have performance limitations. The granting of this patent is a significant acknowledgement of the unique performance of CDTi's PGM-free, or "base metal," Mixed Phase Catalyst (MPC®) technology for the removal of particulate matter, or "soot," from diesel engines. CDTi believes that with this patent grant, they offer the only low temperature-burning, PGM-free catalyst technology in the marketplace. The result is a much more cost effective and efficient solution than competing technologies.
