WHAT: |
The iconic bridge on The Principal Riverwalk at Center Street in downtown Des Moines will be officially named The Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge as part of the dedication celebration of The Principal Riverwalk to be held in April or May of 2013. The bridge will display the names of women from Iowas history who have been nominated by citizens and selected for recognition by a panel of judges. As part of the naming, the first women to be recognized will be announced and their plaques unveiled on the bridge. |

The honorees will be selected on merit, and nominees must be historical (deceased) women who have made a positive impact on the lives of others, achieved extraordinary accomplishments, inspired future generations, and been agents for change for the betterment of our state, our nation, or the world. | |

Nomination deadline is Monday, April 1, 2013. |

To nominate an Iowa Women of Achievement, go to principal.com/riverwalk. All entries must be typed and submitted electronically by April 1, 2013. Any person or group may submit a nomination. |

A gift to the city of Des Moines in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Principal Financial Group, The Principal Riverwalk connects the east and west sides of Des Moines through a seamless series of walking paths and bridges. The 1.2 mile loop will anchor four downtown Des Moines major attractions: the Botanical Center, the Court Avenue District, the Science Center of Iowa and the Iowa Events Center. The project also serves as a hub for the citys numerous bike trails, connecting nearly 300 miles worth of trails in Central Iowa.
