Pfizer (PFE) plans to start selling Viagra online, according to an AP report. The initiative could serve as a test run by Big Pharma over disrupting its current model to look at online distribution for treatments viewed as more embarrassing to buy in person. Drugstore operators (CVS, WAG, RAD) will be watching the development very carefully. PFE -0.1% premarket.

It seems to me that a lot of the success of Pfizer since Ian Reed took over is due to the fact that he and his senior people actually think about things. There are CEOs that keep to the same strategy year after year even when it's no longer yielding results, and their boards allow it.

There are other industries with vibrant companies where management is constantly reevaluating their business model as conditions change.
