The cost of trading Italian government bonds spikes after LCH.Clearnet raises the amount of collateral that market players must deposit to insure trades against losses. The "deposit factor" for Italian debt due in 7-10 years is now 11.65% vs. 6.65%. The move is likely to cause at least some forced selling of Italian paper.
