Heard during Mondelez International's (MDLZ -2.3%) earnings call: 1) A lot of the focus is on the hit the company took from the devaluation of the Venezuelan currency. Unlike some other firms, the charge is being taken under segment results. 2) The focus in China is on gum and biscuits, two categories Mondelez thinks it has a unique advantage. 3) On rumors of a merger with PepsiCo, execs didn't comment directly but hailed the strength of the company.
