Google (GOOG) has a dominant position in mobile search ads, and its AdMob subsidiary may be nearly as dominant in the market for in-app mobile ads. Analytics firm Xylogic estimates AdMob is used by 89% of the top 1,000 ad-supported Android apps, whereas top rival Millennial Media is used by just 34%. Google stated on its Q3 call that its mobile ad business is on a $2.5B annual run rate. (also)
