In a year in which all risk assets seem to move in lockstep, Canadian telecoms are finding their own way, up 14% vs. a 9% decline in the TSX - their best relative performance in a decade. "Not knowing what's going to happen in Europe ... you can own a business where you know you're going to get paid something every month," says a fund manager. BCE, Telus (TU) and Rogers (RCI) are among the players in this category.
