Rail traffic continues to chug along, but perhaps not for long, as concerns grow about the possibility of a national railroad strike that may be called as early as Dec. 6. Lengthy contract negotiations between 30 U.S. railroads and ~132,000 union workers have yielded tentative agreements with ~60% of the workers, but talks are stalled with three holdout unions.

    Where's Reagan? Fire them a la Patco and offer jobs to the just out of high school at half the current salary which is still, with the killer pension, a damn good deal for a young un.
