Treaty changes are nice, says U.K. PM Cameron, but he prefers the "big bazooka." After meeting with France's Sarkozy, Cameron called on eurozone institutions, i.e. the ECB, to use "everything they have got" to stand behind the common currency. To the U.K., treaty change = lessening of the country's power in the EU.

If I can be hopeful for a second, I think we are finally coming to a good consensus in Europe. And I don't think the European policy makers are smart, they are just cycling through all ideas and I think have finally hit on the right one.

It's basically a combination of fiscal tightening and monetary easing to make up for the loss in aggregate demand. That's the right policy. Let's hope they stick to it.

Hey Mach999, I deleted my first post because you used the word 'hopeful'. I remember Churchill saying "the United States will do the right thing, after they have tried everything else". So now maybe it's Europes turn. (smile)

Have a nice day...wherever you are,
