BlackBerry (BBRY -0.4%) is downgraded to Underperform at Exane BNP, which says its profit pools are drying up. While news flow around the BB10 likely will remain the primary driver for the shares in the short-term, the firm says BBRY's long-term profitability prospects hinge essentially on the longevity of its service revenues, which are "unsustainable."

How does anyone know how well a company is going to do in three years. Too bad this guy did predict the future decline of Apple shares, some folks might have saved some profits.

ridiculous statements by Exane BNP. Service revenues can indeed be sustainable, especially once BES is adopted as the standard in corporate security.

Take this downgrade with a grain of salt and see it for what it is, another desperate attempt by a bear to shake the longs.

In other news short position decreased in Canada on $BB.TO by 2 million shares.

BBRY was downgraded in the hopes that the share price drops and shares can be purchased with lower prices before the Q10 starts selling in the US. Profit pools drying up? LOL.

It MIGHT be appropriate to say that the profit picture is a little murky on the service side until we get reports on BES10 uptake, but the company has new product in the market now and surely will be seen making money there at least.

Said the company who is underwater after giving it's customers a 7 dollar price target on BlackBerry.

Short interest getting antsy ahead of earnings..

Expect more if these drive by attacks as the shorts begin to test the stock to Guage escapability tactics.

Looks like the shorts have given up trying to say the handsets are not selling and are now attacking the services.

What about this report? Anyone subscribe?
"BlackBerry Q10 rollout below Z10, says ITG Research"
This is post at Flyonthewall today. Anyone subscribe to fly for the details?
What do they know [or don't know]?????

No recitations on CNBC or Bloomberg - yet?

Today is a critical short term trend day as a close of 14.82 or lower will turn the 20dma down.

The symmetrical triangle started in January is in the 'resolution zone' with the upper trend line at 16.22 today which for the 1st time is under the UBB Equilibrium of 16.35 today.
Trend line is dropping at 21 cents per week.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were referring to U.S sales. The Q10 has not been released there yet.

Keep in mind that any trend lines in Canadian dollars, CAD are drawn with little frequency.
USA charts are far more reliable for up to date information, i.e for BlackBerry.

Exane BNP? Check out their incredibly mixed ratings record. Barely better than a coin flip going back to start of 2012, with some huge misses on Philips, Unilever, Aviva, Vodafone, STM, Logitech and BT among many others. http://bit.ly/10TMv2E

I really do not believe this to be true. Sales are exceeding expectations, and there are reports that say 55% of Z10 owners came over from Samsung or iPhone models. The Q10 and R10 will increase stock value, and with the update to the playbook model they will finally regain their footing. Blackberry messenger is also a nice selling feature...

Another Analyst on the short hook, what will they say on June 28th to their clients when BB shoots through the roof on positive reports. I'm sure glad I don't follow their advice besides it's not their money they are throwing away, it's the life savings of hard working people like you and I. GO LONG and STAY LONG and watch your money finally make good and start thinking where you are going to spend your retirement.

The new Blackberry phones are more North American than the iPhone. I would buy the Z10 over the iPhone any day. For one reason, they trust me enough to change the battery myself. I like smart technology better than technology that wants to keep you stupid, dependent, and gullible enough to pay roughly $500 over cost...

The downgrade is not based on FACTS. It is speculation and conjecture. The FACTS show a very different picture.

Problem is even if the analysis is wrong it still affects the share price, and as you can see its going down. Then it takes two weeks to get back up? Until they shake all the bears out of the bushes it will continue!

@jbde ''Blackberry Q10 rollout below Z10,says ITG Research.''

I Checked this out on Google.

April 11- Blackberry stock slides on poor Z10 sales.

    - More people are returning Blackberry Z10.
Or again, Blackberry Z10 consumer launch appears very weak.

And so on and so on...

I guess ITG is just another desperate loser.

I guess it depends on who reports the results. I heard that the Z10 exceeded their sales goals, and 55% of the early adopters migrated from Samsung and iPhone owners. The only thing we can do is filter out the false info, and evaluate the technology for what it is. I am excited to see how this all pans out. I think Blackberry is finally on the right track. Hopefully the smear campaign loses it steam and Blackberry get the break they deserve.

One has to acknowledge the shorts are a relentless lot. The stock is getting pounded, no matter how many good news, encouraging announcements, positive customer reports... the stock gets pounded again and again.

Perhaps this is the result of previous management mistakes saying or doing one or two things that were not entirely true and only hard numbers will get to drive the price of this stock higher. Meanwhile it is clear that some are enjoying this party.

The stock is more volatile because of their past mistakes, but I do believe they are on the right track now, and as long as they do their best to cater to their past consumers with compatibility, and updated OS, especially for the Playbook, I think Blackberry will be just fine. I would like to say that they might give Apple a run for their money, but a few more items need to be added to their arsenal before I could say this with confidence. They need to offer Wifi models of the Z10 to compete with the iPod touch, and maybe expand on their Playbook line to compete with the iPad, and Windows Surface tablets. Luckily Blackberry outfitted their old playbooks with enough technology that they can buy time, and breathe new life in them with the BB10 OS. If they succeed in these steps watch their stock take off! I'm pretty excited to see the future of Blackberry.

Just another hack analyst paid to twist the truth to suit their masters. It's important to use these dips as a chance to load up more stocks before the US Q10 release and the next earnings report. It will be a bumpy ride but in a few years from now these clowns will be working at McDs (not at the casher but wiping tables)
