Procter & Gamble (PG) says it is bringing A.G. Lafley out of retirement to become Chairman and CEO effective immediately, succeeding Bob McDonald, who is retiring at the end of June after 33 years with the company. Shares +0.5% AH.

    Yeah - this is good ...the guy who put P&G assets in Beauty Care - one of the worst performing sectors at P&G is back.

    Now McDonald can concentrate on his 21 other companies in between flipping burgers at McDonalds. Hopefully they don't bring back painfully silly "Ask AG".

    Seems to be a new trend here is failing companies. First it was JCP and now PG. Now PG is not quite the train wreck that JCP is yet but it is certainly working at it.

    Regarding several comments above on PG beauty care; I used some Pantene products but now they have a ridiculously large number of variations, and my favorites were discontinued and supposedly "relabeled" when they keep changing the packaging and confusing the consumers.

     

    Although Meg Whitman was not from HPQ, this stock with the former high profile CEO from EBay has improved. Market likes the PG change - at least in this morning's opening.
