Citing macro issues and hard drive shortages, Gartner is slashing its 2012 PC shipment growth forecast to 5%, from a prior 10.1%. The firm is also predicting 2012 chip sales growth of just 2.2%, but is lifting its 2012 mobile phone growth forecast by 50 bps, to 7.5%. DRAM sales are expected to rise 3%, following an expected 26% decline in 2011. NAND flash sales are seen rising 16.6%, following a 20% gain this year. (Q3 PC figures)
