Total (TOT -0.3%) is charged by the SEC with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act by paying $60M in bribes to intermediaries of an Iranian government official who then exercised influence to help it obtain contracts to develop oil and gas fields in Iran. TOT agrees to pay ~$398M to settle the SEC’s charges and a parallel criminal matter by the U.S. Justice Department.

The money they had to pay the American politicians was 6.6X the money they had to pay the Iranian politicians. Makes the Iranians look like a bargain. "Bribe", "fine", what's the difference?
