Tomi Ahonen's review of global smartphone adoption rates finds smartphones now account for over a quarter of mobile subscriptions in over 20 developed nations. However, penetration rates in many developing nations remain far lower, leaving additional room for growth - China comes in at 8%, and India at just 3%. Interestingly, Japan is also a laggard, with a 14% penetration rate. (also)
