Shares of Tesla Motors (TSLA -4.4%) fall lower in early trading. Though much of the action could still be profits being taken off the table, the news that Kandi Technologies landed government approval in China to sell an all-electric sedan is an interesting development for the EV market.

Do you have any specifications for this Tesla beater?

I would expect that it is in line with virtually every other EV out there and has a range in the region of 100 miles.

I'm sorry, but unless they come up with a 200 miles plus range in a really good looking car it will be just another undistinguished city runabout. Look at the offerings from BYD, etc.

Tesla is so far ahead in the game that the other auto manufacturers must have difficulty seeing their tail-lights in the distance!

Different technology. They offer batteries that can be swapped so range isnt a factor.

More EV's are a good thing - raises awareness. It is great for Tesla as well, since it is the best of breed in that arena, and in the volumes that Tesla can manufacture their cars - we can expect there to be more demand than supply. Lots of wealth in China.

People like you want Tesla stock to go down, maybe your shorting the stock, but Look again, tsla was up over 2 bucks to $97.?? at the close, but went back down to $95.45 up .61 cents after market, even though the Dow was down 220 bucks.

Something to remember: This isn't just an EV; it's a "Made in China" EV. Some time ago, I heard that China wanted to start exporting cars to the United States. At that time, I recall thinking: They want to sell us cars?? They can't make a screwdriver that works. I sell tools, and am familiar with Chinese quality. Don't make me laugh.

The kandi car, much like the BYD e6 are nor competition to the Tesla, although they are EVs, they are not the same.
To make a regular car comparison, that is like saying a Kia is competition for Audi.

I would say the BYD and possible Kandi could be leaf/focus ev killers though. Then again, they have to pass all sorts of safety qualifications, which has been a major obstactle for BYD into bringing its e6 to the US.
