The House rejects a plan to extend the payroll tax cut for another 2 months, with Republicans in that chamber demanding immediate talks with the Senate to turn it into a year-long extension. The Senate has left town, and majority leader Reid says no bargaining until the House passes the 2 month plan. (previous)

  • Really. No one gives a shit anymore. After decades of raiding the fund, I just as soon keep SS intact. Anyway, two months tax legislation is a total joke and Reid looks like a clown.

  • Reid does not look like a clown. House previously passed and the senate voted (down) on a one year bill, but Repubs put so much extreme red meat tea party stuff in it that no way the Senate or Obama would go for it. Go read the bill. Boehner had his chance and decided to throw meat rather than solve the problem. Don't get me wrong, both sides do political posturing, but it is Boehner this time.

  • Yes, Reid looks like a freeking clown.

A 2 month extension is a joke. Personally I don't think it should be extended at all unless it is REALLY paid for - not with some phony congressional accounting fraud.

  • Dems only objective is to have their mass-media buddies demagogue the Repubs for obstructing "progress."

  • No demagoguery, just the facts. They haven't done one thing to help working Americans since they were voted into office.

Oh, excuse me they did reaffirm "In God we Trust".

Yep, these Repubs are working their asses off.

  • Perhaps you have not noticed, but 2/3 of the government is controlled by Democrats.

  • If you call a Senate hamstrung by a minority using filibuster rules to prevent almost anything from happening, control, then some who doesn't know Shit from Shinola might think your right.

I know the difference between both Shit and Shinola. That makes you WRONG.

  • Funny how when the Democrats do the filibustering is OK, and is called "democracy in action". You are all so predictable and phony.

  • Well, wyostocks that's a little bit off topic. And when did I say it was okay for the Dems to do it? Here's a clue..........I didn't. How predictable is that?????

My point was to rebut your contention that the Dems control 2/3 of the government. And they don't because the Senate is hamstrung by the Republican use of the fillibuster.

Your obviously one of the individuals I spoke about in my comment. Not only are you WRONG. You don't know shit from Shinola, simply because you think your right.

  • Two months is better than nothing. But, two months won't fly with them because NOTHING is what the repubs (The Party of NO!) is now famous for.

  • Monngie, The whole year is worth only $1000 per wage earner. Two months is about $160 per wage earner. Why bother with two months when a year is not that much in itself?

  • Two months is a freeking joke and you know it. The latest polls show that people that think that congress is doing a great job - Dems = 2.8%, Pubbies = 2.1%.

Even Genghis Khan had better ratings.

  • You obviously don't need the $160. Good for you.

    Why bother?

We should bother for those that do need $160.

  • Almost 3 years now that the Dem controlled Senate has failed in issuing a budget; the better to obfuscate the debt problems and the left's purposeful destruction of the economy. The Alinsky strategy is working oh so well.

  • This country needs, in the most desperate way, a viable third party. The two clown groups posing as political parties have polarized the country and disrupted the foundations that make up the middle class. The middle class defines what our country is and when the middle class is threatened our nation suffers.

  • Let's see if I can get this right. The Senate leaves town, which can be very good if they don't come back. The house rejects a plan and we reject the house now and at election time. That just about does it.
Oh, I forgot, we need to be sure we have a one- term president this time.
Let's use a big broom at election time and clear the rascals out!
