House Republicans cave to Pres. Obama’s demand for a two-month payroll tax cut extension. House Speaker Boehner says his side has ended its opposition to the extension in return for new language in the legislation to make it easy for business payroll staff to process the tax cut.

  • They should have just passed a bill to make the year 2 months longer, giving them time to come up with a solution.....

  • I doubt anyone seriously cares. Now they can all go on their long vacations, pat themselves on the back, and prepare to do nothing for the next two months.

Mentioning BO and Seal Team 6 in the same sentence is an insult to Seal Team 6.

  • Terry, very well said. Republicans are going to lose in 2012 in the biggest landslide loss ever.

    Republicans are a joke.

  • 2 months extension doesn't do much.

  • That was the entire GOP objection (that it'd be a tax-accounting nightmare, 2-month not even corresponding to a quarter that a lot of employers do their tax periodically on), but, oh well, politics is politics.

Just because your position is logical and rational doesn't mean you can ignore the optics and the opponents who are willing to go back on their prior words (Obama and Democrats *wanted* 1 year extension to start with; proof? Obama's number of $1000 tax saving is based on 1-year extension, not the 2-mo extension that Democrats supposedly want now) and demagogue your position as much as the media would let them.

It is good to know those in charge are more willing to protect their ego and fight among each other rather than do what is best for the nation.

  • Did Boehner break down crying when McConnell reamed him a new ahole and told him who the real bossman was?

  • As expected... they've all failed once again, both Republicans and Democrats.
This last year proved they can only agree on laws that will hurt their own citizens, such as the NDAA, the SOPA & the PIPA.
Whenever it comes down to the government's debt, they simply cannot agree at all.

  • Reps wanted a year of tax cuts and Barry/Dems only wanted 2 months of tax cuts? Again, who won?

  • My party of choice for the last 40 years is filled with idiots. Most notably Boehner and the Teaparty fanatics. Where is Ronnie when we need him! The biggest losers in this fiasco were the Republicans, especially the fanatical Teabaggers. The 2 months extension sucks; but, it was light years better than the what the T'baggers were offering. It wouldn't bother me at all if the far left in The Dem party and the Far right in the Repub party all got removed from office!

  • TomasVP, that all depends. Of course its all show and has no real impact, so one has to wonder why it was so important to cave to Democrats. Guess Bohner was really bummed about not getting some of those Christmas invitations and said to himself, "that Christmas party is more important than the nation."

  • I could care less about either party although I have my likes/dislikes. What I really care about is that they are not solving anything that means anything. They could just as well not show up.

Kind of like arguing over the dinner menu on the Titanic.
