The buzz surrounding the arrival of low-power, ARM-based (ARMH) processors in the server market is growing, thanks to announcements (I, II) from the likes of H-P (HPQ) and Applied Micro (AMCC), as well as hints from Dell and others. However, pundits cautions ARM-based chips are unlikely to mount a challenge to Intel (INTC) and AMD's offerings before 2013 at the earliest, given the software compatibility issues that stand in the way.
