To joelkatz - No, it's not a major shake-up. Mike Neal has reached retirement age and is leaving as expected. Keith Sherin is a bit of a surprise but only a bit. Mr. Sherin has been on the Board of GE Capital for many years and was deeply involved in the development and execution of the plans to extricate GE Capital from its problems in the wake of the financial crisis. I think Mr. Sherin is a great choice. If nothing else he will keep a tight rein on the animal spirits that tend to break out at GE Capital...usually leading to disasters.

Yeah, but if Mike Neal has reached retirement age, can't this accurately be viewed as just business as usual?

Great move, Keith Sherin knows there are no short cuts to sustainable growth and also what to pare in the Capital portfolio. Look forward to a re-shaping of the Capital business and the divestiture of the high risk holdings.

Mike Neal announced his retirement. This is a very interesting move. Sherin has been a CFO for his whole career, which tells me that a spin off is coming...
