There's still some bark in the "dogs of the Dow" strategy after hitting a home run in 2011 with big performance from high-yielders such as Pfizer, Kraft and Chevron. The 10 Dow stocks with the highest dividend yields at the start of 2011 are up an average of 12.83% YTD in price appreciation alone, outperforming the rest of the Dow by 16-plus percentage points.

    Makes sense giving the massive rally in long bonds this year as well. Folks chased yield and Fed helped facilitate low rates.

     

    Meanwhile, inflation is 3.85% y/y I believe.
