Usage of Internet Explorer 6 is almost officially dead with market share in the U.S. now standing below 1%, and no one seems happier about it than the folks at Microsoft (MSFT +1.1%). On a corporate blog an exec writes, "IE6 has been the punch line of browser jokes for a while, and we’ve been as eager as anyone to see it go away." Though later generations of IE still have MSFT sitting atop the browser rankings, Google Chrome and Mozilla's Firefox have gained ground Y/Y.
