Vanguard Natural Resources (VNR) -3.3% premarket after announcing a public offering of 2.2M perpetual preferred units, coming just two weeks after a 7M-share secondary offering of common units. VNR is clearly planning to do something big with the extra funds, Albert Alfonso writes, such as funding a large acquisition.

I am pissed. I bought shares in this company, and in a few months all the dividends that I may receive in the next 18 months have been eaten up by the loss of share value.

Only if you sell it. Long term you will be just fine. But I agree, hurts to know if you just waited.... How many times has that happened to me!
I bought a bunch of AGNC in May and watched it plunge 30%, effectively wiping out 2 years of dividends, but long term will be fine. Have to look at it that way.

Thank you for some encouragement. I need it! I bought it for the income and will hope in the long term it works out. Same with LINN, and others. It seems Wall Street loves to tear down any income source.

I base my purchases on the company NAV. Hopefully being "underwater" a few % points makes it a good value.

VNR is 15% off it's 52 wk high and 6% off it's 52 wk low If you bought it because you believed in the company at a higher price, it's a screaming buy now. VNR doesn't have the litigation problems of LINN and is moving more in sympathy than anything else. VNR is also raising money for some big acquisitions and that always puts a short term damper on the price. If you believe in the management, this is a great buying opportunity.

Bhakta, I feel your pain. I bought VNR and LNCO and am watching them both plunge. But will hold for the long term.

It is very depressing that there is really no where safe to keep one's money any more. I have held on to Linn also and seen it lose nearly 15% of its value. What's going on really?
