The glass half full: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg weren't sounding the death knell for the movie industry when they warned of an implosion but a paradigm shift away from multiplex theaters (CKEC, CNK, IMAX, RGC). When the day comes when mega-budget films from top studios (CMCSA, DIS, TWX, LGF, SNE, DWA) bomb at the box office, look for new mediums at home to emerge as first-run options. "There has never been more exciting potential," notes Spielberg. (video)

If we're going to be paying $50 for a movie, there had better be something more than popcorn at the concession stand. How bout pulling out the chairs, putting in tables and serving filet Mignon and wine? ;-)

you blame the exhibitor for those $50 movie prices well guess what 90% of that ticket price goes right to the studio. Maybe that's why popcorn and soda are so highly priced? all those lights and that big Digital projector don't run for free.

I first saw and was impressed by the IMAX concept way back in 1967 at Montreal Expo 67 when Ontario was the subject. In 2002 I saw "Elephant Walk" in San Diego. In January 2009 I bought a mess of shares of IMAX at $6 each and restored my IRA in May of 2011 when I sold those shares at $35. Today I love the IMAX potential of direct profitability in showing new blockbuster 3D ahead of mass distribution.
Also a $25 per share price has me as excited as seeing the "Man OF Steel" and am pleased to once again invest in IMAX. I already have PUT & CALL options in place as well. Also looking forward to taking my grandson to see "Despicable 2" soon.
