California Democrat Linda Sanchez requests an FTC investigation of Herbalife (HLF) saying that as she has "learned more about the issue from [her] constituents … [she] believes it is the FTC's responsibility to examine allegations" that the company takes unfair advantage of one of the "country's most vulnerable populations." For its part, HLF says had she called the company, it would have explained how its products "change people's lives."

Why does she want the investigation now? It just seems fishy considering the stock movement! The sad thing is that even if there was an investigation there wouldn't be enough evidence to prove any wrong doing. However it would be nice if HLF wouldn't act as to invite suspiciously.

Excellent Decision by the Honorable Representative. There are only 550,000 distributors in the USA alone who disagree with her, and......60% of which are are also Latino voters. maybe she is not a mathematician?

If she wanted a campaign contribution all she had to was ask. HLF is cash rich. Too late I guess.

The HLF headquarters is in her district. She should go there and ask for any info she needs. Take the tour! Have a close up look at the HLF business model. She lives right there!! Of course she is trying to make it political.

    I'm LONG HLF!

10-1 odds she's peeved that HLF management sick of paying 12% California income tax supported a republican and not the esteemed Ms Sanchez. I want an investigation of all her motivations for asking for this "investigation".

I don't think the Company's idea of how HLF "changes people's lives" is exactly the kind of change the Sanchez is looking at. I'm guessing she is more interested in how the "people" are relieved of their cash in exchange for some hokus-pocus wonder product.

Linda Sanchez might have missed some of the news lately. Both Businessweek and Nielson Ratings have done an independent study which shows HLF to be a Juggernaut.

HLF starts construction on new Winston-Salem facility! Once fully operational by next summer, the 585,000-square-foot building will provide jobs for around 600 people.

In addition, many governments around the world are giving HLF awards - for providing great value to their citizens!

    Example: May 29, 2013
Herbalife Mexico, Recognized for its Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

@powershakes.... Only in America do our own citizens try and tear down our international exporting industries. Big oil companies, HLF, Gibson Guitars, etc. If one person can benefit, Screw the nation, he or she doesn`t care, he or she only cares about him or herself, even if it is to the detriment of the nation. despicable.... Ackman is totally despicable

MY QUESTION: If Ackman isn't using this time period to come up with ways to cover his shorts, why didn't he respond to today's accusations by DA Davidson?

Since Ackman is probably trying to come up with ways to cover his shorts (per Davidson's), he has to rely on others(THANKS LINDA SANCHEZ) to put doubt in the minds of shareholders and other potential shareholders. He also has to keep his fellow shorts in the dark so they don't cover before he does and drive up HLF's share price.

I noticed Herb the #urd came out knocking Herbalife. Of course we all know he's just a puppet for some big time investors like Ackman. WHY NO COMMENT FROM ACKMAN = BECAUSE HE'S COVERING AND HE WILL GET IN TROUBLE FOR STOCK MANIPUTATION IF HE'S DOGGING A STOCK AT THE SAME TIME HE IS COVERING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Could it be that Ackman might be pulling some strings so that he may make an exit without getting clobbered on his billion dollar short position.

It's a good thing that someone of authority has shown enough interest to consult with the lowliest of the unsophisticated victims.

I am 64 years young and living with my famij in Sweden. Trained as a biologist with specalitet in chemistry, physiology, ecology. Worked in the pharmaceutical industry, real estate, stock market.
I and my wife has since 10 year worked as Independent Herbalife Distributor. Began, after hesitation, try Herbalifs nutritional products. Third day, I felt much more energetic and my stomach and intestines felt better. I did not know that I had 10 kg abdominal fat that disappeared. I wake up more refreshed now and have more energy so I can exercise more on my racing bike. Herbalife has helped me make healthier food choices and changed my lifestyle. I have in my work changed lives of many people with advice on healthy eating and active lifestyle in combination to Herbalife nutritional products.
I have as a personal wellness coach shared my experience with many people in my team and teach them how they can feel better and help others to better health and a better economy. Herbalife reward me and my wife plentiful for this work.

Once HLF completes its Carolina warehouse, management should uproot the entire company to Carolina and thank Sanchez for the inspiration to move to a more tax friendly state. Would be a huge state tax savings for all employees.
