Incremental headwinds have subsided for key trust banks, Goldman Sachs says in calling State Street (STT -1.1%) a buying opportunity on valuation, with the pace of 2012 EPS revisions stabilizing more quickly than the overall sector. Goldman sees a "modest" downside to Northern Trust (NTRS -0.8%), whose cost-cutting program "will take several years to implement."
