Pimco's Corporate & Income Opportunity Fund (PTY +4.2%) makes a big move after Pimco's Bill Gross gives it a plug at the Barron's mid-year roundtable. In a time of interest rate jitters, Gross notes the fund's "defensive qualities" and points out it's within a whisker of its all-time high NAV despite a tough few weeks for fixed income.

You mention the big gain but I am getting rocked from that drop it recently took from $22 to $17's.

I am starting to lose faith in the PIMCO name.

Yahoo message board readers are in an uproar regarding PIMCO and Bill Gross handling of the premiums, to be honest I don't disagree about being upset.

Surprised your talking about the big rise which pales in comparison to the big drop it had in the last few days, why?

I invest in PKO and it is also taking a hit. From May 9th to present it has lost about 15% personally I'm down around 8% from when I bought it. Hasn't recovered much at all especially after today.

Definitely harder hit than other similar leveraged HY bond funds like GOF. Although not much better GOF has about a 3% lead on PKO and with a better interest rate one that has recently upped their dividend.

Fixed Income anything has taken huge capital hits over the last month. I think it's ridiculous and because the sell off is so broad I think we are going to see a lot come back in capital over the next 6 months. Which is usually the case with over exaggeration.

Are you in this fund for income or growth? If for growth look elsewhere

I'm happy with averaging down and increasing position. Good move up today. If it can side step back to 20-22 I'll be very content.
