In front of the cameras now, former SNB chief Hildebrand says he quit because it is impossible to prove his wife sold francs for dollars without his knowledge. He says the SNB will continue to defend EURCHF 1.20 with "utmost determination." With all due respect, that's not his call anymore.

He never knew. She is as great a trader as Hillary was back in the 90's.

For those of you who love the regulatory state, do you seriously think that a rule like "bankers (plus their spouses) who have the power to move the value of currencies can't trade in currencies" would have any effect?

Free markets and honest reporting work better than rules, more rules and well-connected regulators.

Who keeps markets free and reporting honest? Do bankers really have a conscience? If so are they allowed to use it?

The question is not did he have knowledge of his wife selling francs but did he tell his wife about the revaluation. And another one bites the dust.

it's all playing out like some ludlum novel.

another curious parallel to hill- the whistleblower broke the law providing the internal paperwork which caused the resignation, like the phone tap tripp used to record lewinsky.
