Men's Wearhouse (MW) fires George Zimmer from his position as executive chairman and says it will postpone its annual meeting as it seeks new director candidates. For those curious, Zimmer is the guy from the Men's Wearhouse commercials with the personal guarantee. MW -6.6% premarket.

This could blow up in their face; like him or not, Zimmer was the face of The Men’s Warehouse after appearing in all the commercials I can remember over the last few years.

I’m not sure if I like the way this looks.

They should ask the Dos Equis guy, Jonathan Goldsmith, to do the new commercials.

I say go with George Costanza (Jason Alexander in Seinfeld). He is more of the relaxed casual theme we see today.

I know we don't have the whole story, but this whole thing stinks and I've seen things like this happen before, so this struck a personal nerve. All the man did was build the very company that these illustrious "board members" and "executives" now handsomely profit from. And the way they repay him is, from the looks of it, to fire him over press release (it doesn't look like anyone has had a discussion with him). I sincerely hope there is more to this story than a bunch of ungrateful MBA punks stabbing him in the back because he's a "dinosaur" and they know how to do it better. Lot's of people have fancy degrees (and they are valuable in my view, even if only as a market signal), but a paltry few accomplished what George Zimmer did. Show some gratitude, respect and professional courtesy and let the man you owe your livelihood to exit with grace.

They should contract him for commercials, he's a really recognizable guy.

Not good publicity in my opinion. He IS the face of the company.

Of course we don't know the whole story but for his employees to choose to fire him, that is just horrible.

Started shopping there recently for casual clothes and was pleasantly surprised. Good for those of us not into the Ed Hardy/skinny jeans looks lol

Be curious to see why he was terminated
