Hemlock Grove will be back in 2014: Netflix (NFLX -2.2%) has signed off on a 10-episode second season of the original horror series. Though the 13-episode first season (premiered April 19) has received lukewarm reviews and much less hype than House of Cards and Arrested Development, executive producer Eli Roth insists the fan response has been "phenomenal." Chic Eglee, who has helped produce The Walking Dead and Dexter, will also be an executive producer for season 2. (previous)

Note the press release quoted the EP saying fans loved it but was missing the standard quote from a NFLX exec indicating the series was successful. What happened to NFLX (very carefully worded) claim that its debut weekend viewership was greater than HoC? Guess the nosedive evident on Google Trends correlated to audience evaporation: "blink and you missed it" as the CNET article linked put it.
