    Three concerns regarding DTE:

The City of Detroit, one of DTE Energy’s largest customers, will declare bankruptcy soon.

The Obama Administration may use executive powers to cut CO2 pollution blamed for global warming. Coal accounts for 75% of DTE capacity and they have no plans to diversify away from coal. Except for some natural gas pipelines, all of their other units are coal businesses.

DTE is far more optimistic about Michigan’s economy than the State’s Budget committee. Michigan GDP 2013 forecast: DTE +2.5%, State +1.7%, 2014 forecast: DTE +3.5%, State 2.4%.

Michigan posted the 18th fastest-growing real gross domestic product in the nation last year, compared to fourth fastest in 2011.
