GameStop (GME -2.3%) heads lower after NPD reports U.S. retail sales of video game hardware and software fell 28% and 14% Y/Y, respectively, in December. For all of 2011, hardware sales fell 11%, and software sales 6%, as online and mobile gaming took their toll, and the current generation of consoles showed its age. The Xbox 360 (MSFT) was easily the best-performing console, accounting for 49% of 2011 retail console spending.
