Medtronic's (MDT) MiniMed 530 G pump is able to safely stop the provision of insulin for two hours automatically when the blood sugar levels in Type 1 diabetes patients gets too low, a study shows. The device's "threshold suspend" cut incidents of low blood sugar at night by 32% vs subjects who didn't use it. Medtronics has filed for U.S. approval for the device, having sold it outside the country since 2009.
