Coke has been named the most effective brand in the world by Effie Worldwide in recognition of the effective advertising by Coca-Cola (KO). The award flies in the face of the efforts by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg to raise awareness of the link of the company's products to obesity.

I don't think that this award flies in the face of Bloomberg's efforts as much as Bloomberg's efforts are a fly in the face of the KO juggernaut. Get out of the way, nanny!!

Thanks to KO, the pharmaceutical and medical device companies are making billions on medicines and treatments for diabetes.

Long NVO, MDT, and others. No position in soft drink companies.

The award is for effective branding, not health awareness. I see no conflict. In fact, Bloomberg's efforts will likely inure to the value of the Coke brand.

KO should really be thankful to Bloomburg - Without his nanny ruling they would not have gotten so much exposure (Free advertising)

Tell a child "No you cannot have that" and what is the reaction? They want it.

I would love to have seen the figures for the KO sales in NY while this incident was going on
