Apple (AAPL) is holding an event in New York, where it's "reinventing the textbook" on the iPad. It's just introduced iBooks 2, with movies and all sorts of other snazzy features embedded into the textbook pages. You can read live blogs here and here.

Just downloaded iBooks Author. It is more than a tool for publishing textbooks- It is a publishing tool for everyone. Any professor in any learning institution can now self publish and realize profits directly from their efforts. It will not be quarantined to the education sector.

Mini iPads will seek their own level and be found in book bags everywhere as BYOD hits the schools.
