$BBRY Cash went up despite $150 million increase in SG&A and Venezuela currency loss. Things much better than bears wanted.

Why wasn't there an earnings warning issued? It is because they actually broke even if you deduct the special hits.

Why is the stock down over 2 dollars if things went so well?

There are always people like you shouting things looks good, BBRY will take off, there will be short squeeze, which will never happen....It is so hard to accept the facts when people get attached to a stock. I am happy that I got out 2 months ago.

Licensing deal with Sony will be announced very soon now, probably in the next 2 weeks to cheer up the investors a little bit. Plus more info on new products can be expected. Personally expect the stock to bottom out somewhere above 10-10.5 area

The EPS would have still been -$0.03 had the Venezuelan currency loss. How did that have so much impact anyway?

Blackberry still suffers from what has taken it down to this level. They can't market anything. They couldn't market get out of jail free cards to guys on death row. They still suffer from the engineers mentality that if you have the best widget people will beat down a path to buy it. Just ask Sony about BETAMAX. They announced Alecia Keys as a spokesperson. Have you seen her? If they are to be successful they have to incentivize the salesmen in the phone stores to push the technical superiority of the product. Most of these guys can't tell me what the "HUB" is on my z-10. Their only chance to survive is to push all the engineers into the lab and bring in a marketing guru to push their new line of cheaper phones with BB-10 capability.

Exactly! They failed to create any marketing hype for their BB10 devices so

Cash increased 200mn, but due to the use of $335mn for intangible asset additions and $83 in CapEx. This means the (BBRY) rebound is a 2-plus quarter story. Need Q10 worldwide launch to support shares moving into the September qtr. Only a week of Q10 was included this time round.

Chris, I believe that little detail is a very important factor. This quarter had only 1 week of Q10 sales. So essentially what $BBRY reported should account for 70% to 80% of Z10 sales.

My only concerns about that call were:
    1. No guidance on the next quarter - which means they are still waiting on orders to close for this quarter
    2. They didn't give a breakdown of sell-in v/s sell-through

Do you know what he meant when Thorsten mentioned that Blackberry would breakeven this quarter?

If that is indeed the case then I think the Z10 sold either better than or equal to in Q4 2013 - the sell-through in Q4 was about 700k for a total sell-in of 1 million. This time around they sold 2.7 million in 3 months which would mean that either Z10 sales were around the same pace of 700k/mo. = 2.1 million for Z10s and 600k of Q10s sold.

In Q4 of 2013 $BBRY reported sell-in to the channels so I am a bit surprised why they reported a sell-through this time around.
