It looks like Amazon (AMZN) wants to be an art dealer: The Art Newspaper reports the e-commerce giant is looking to "offer over 1,000 art objects from at least 125 galleries" on its site later this year, and that 109 galleries have signed up to support its efforts. Amazon reps have told dealers its site, which would take a 5%-15% commission on sales (startup Artspace charges 10%-20%), will resemble Amazon Wine, which launched last November.

AMZN is not quitting or selling what doesn't work, Gary. If it were, it would have profits.
