While the Bank of England is changing the guard, the Bank of Israel is too, with Stanley Fischer leaving as governor today after eight years. Growth has been brisk during Fischer's tenure despite the global financial crisis, a war and two warlets. Fischer, who will be replaced by Jacob Frenkel, doesn't intend to retire, and has even had to field questions about whether he'd like to replace his former MIT student Ben Bernanke at the Fed. Fischer doesn't rule it out.
