No matter how many critics scoff at the idea, H-P (HPQ +0.5%) appears intent on re-entering the smartphone market. Asked whether an H-P smartphone will arrive, Asia-Pac exec Yam Su Yin replied, "The answer is yes but I cannot give a timetable. It would be silly if we say no. HP has to be in the game." His remarks echo past comments from Meg Whitman. An enterprise-focused Android phone seems a good bet for an initial offering. (H-P Android tablets/PCs)

Another example of HP chasing a pot of fools gold, once again. They should try being the innovator instead of the follower. On the plus side for consumers, with another player in the game it could possibly contribute to lower retail prices, if the phone is good enough. That is a big "If" though.

I smell yet another stupid acquisition in the works. Find some loser, down and out company and then pay about 5 times what it is actually worth. RIMM, err, Blackberry comes to mind...
