Wow it's 1,659 right now that is needed, when 30 minutes ago it was 2,424, that's 765 votes in a half hour. Maybe we will make it today?

I have talked to a lot of people about this petition. Even people who believe ICE cars are better, think it is not right that Tesla can't sell directly to consumers in some states.

It will be interesting to see if the White House caters to the vested interests of the automobile and oil lobbyists or is behind an American green-based initiative that is truly game changing.

I signed and I believe, but not exactly sure how the executive branch can influence state law that breaks no federal statutes?!

That's a big plus for Tesla, the President wants battery operated cars and trucks to slow the global warming process we have right now with all of these strong storms that even our scientists are now saying global warming is responsible for.
If the U.S. can eventually perform the same deliveries to stores and get citizens from point A to point B with batteries instead of gasoline and diesel, to me it's a no brainier.

Ideas for getting out the vote - contact all Tesla clubs/members you are aware of and ALL your conservative friends who believe in free enterprise - signed on Friday at around 32,000 signatures, Saturday saw upwards of 72,000 - the ball is definitely rolling -

Thank you for reminding me about my Conservative Friends, I was not going to ask them but now that you mention it if they really believe in free open markets they should not have any problem signing it.

You are right, Joe E C. I also got some conservative friend to sign. I challenged them on their free market and competition and less government interference (also by States) and the reasonable conservatives signed on, even if they did not like it too much that this helps a company which at some point was supported by the Federal Government and sells a product which is subject to Government subsidies.

83K signatures as i'm posting this. If everyone who already signed just gets 1 other person to sign, the goal of 100k will easily be met. just 1!! Ask your mom, brother, dad, sister, co-worker, neighbor, cousin, a friend or relative you haven't heard from in months (years). Has everyone in your household signed? everyone just ask 1 more person and this will be done!

True, not allowing (TSLA) to sell directly to consumers is not right, but getting the federal government to force states to allow (TSLA) to do so seems against states' rights.

Freedom of trade between the states has always been in the domain of the federal government, otherwise the states would all be cooking up embargoes against each other to protect home state industries.

Legislation mandating dealerships can surely only be legitimate if it has a valid purpose in protecting purchasers of vehicles.

How am I protected when I cannot buy a vehicle I want from a manufacture in order to protect the ICE dealer next door? - it is not the same as banning the sale of Coca Cola in schools which is proven to aid obesity and causes a myriad of problem for my person - the sales model helps the consumer, the product helps the environment - so it is a win win (except for the dealers who need our repair dollars - but then, there are fewer if any repair dollars with a Tesla, so a dealership would go broke waiting for a Tesla to break down) so we are actually saving the would be dealers -
