Prosecutors in Trani in Italy add Fitch (FMLCF.PK) to an investigation into alleged market manipulation by ratings agencies following their negative reports about the country. The probe already included S&P (MHP) and Moody's (MCO), and was extended to Fitch after it warned of a 2-notch downgrade for Italy.

  • When the messenger fails to deliver the correct message, it is not a message, it is a fraud.

     

    Rating agencies have failed, during the housing boom, to properly analyze what it was rating and the risks. Have they done their job, then the mess the world is in, would not have happened.

  • The whole world should have objected to the Ratings Agencies being based in the US and UK decades ago.

     

    They need to be located somewhere pristinely neutral. How about Tuvalu?
