    you can really see the elephantine footprints of the hedge funds here who borrowed zillions at almost 0% interest to buy utility shares with yields of 2%-4%. A hint that their borrowing costs might rise and they stampede for the exit.

    Nothing said about number of shares available. Just the number of owners of shares wanting to sell is greater than number of buyers at a given price point, forces prices down until buyers say OK, we'll buy shares now at that price. Simple economics - supply (# selling) and demand (#buying) determines price at which shares change hands. RSR
