As expected, all of BlackBerry's (BBRY +3.8%) directors were re-elected at the company's annual meeting. BlackBerry also announced there are now 120K BB10 apps available (up from 100K in March), and that 60K users are beta-testing BBM Channels. Shares are rallying, but remain below $10 for now.

  • BBRY is set up for the future. May take a little time for the present to catch up but it will....moment by moment, day by day.

  • Good News, but BBRY will have to fight their battle on two fronts; marketing their new products while dealing with negative perception being spewed out by some "Analysts" with an agenda.

BBRY will prevail, but success will not come overnight.

  • Thorstein did what he had to do, remind everyone that it takes more than 1 quarter to turn a company around and that BB is in the services and making money business, not pumping out smartphones for the sake of racking up body count. He did it in a confident way as well which will reassure the longs and perhaps be enough to get more of them to pick up shares.

Until later in July when we find out the actual short covering that took place, the next couple of weeks will see pump and dump by speculators, especially from the ones who can't cover at $9 so they'll milk som green to cover their red.

If the shorts drop by 30% or more then it should be a steady climb up for BB moving forward.

  • Then BB will continue to go along, creeping up and then getting manipulated down until the SEC does something. That's the crappy part, BB is clearly manipulated but since its not Apple or Google, the SEC doesn't care and would probably prefer foreign competition (not named Samsung) gets eliminated.

  • Of course they were re-elected since proxies went out before the earnings announcement

  • I was nicely impress with all the Annual Shareholders Meeting,
Was very straightforward and professional, no hiding, and no BS.
Now I have a much better feeling about the great future of BBRY!
I wish the manipulators, short sellers and all others that had work so hard to damage the reputation of BBRY in the past would leave the company alone and concentrate in others!.

  • so what does it matter when the proxies went out. Did you really think they would fire TH at this moment, that would of been suicide! TH will have to polish up his image. It's like when your playing in the Stanley cup playoffs, and the goaltender lets in a bad goal! Do you think the coach is going to pull the goaltender, of course not, if things start getting ugly yes but not for one bad goal. He will tell the goaltender to suck it up and show his best stuff!

  • I thought TH did really well today especially when he fielded a question from the floor alluding to the severe American prejudice against BB as a company. More pertinent going forward however is the need for BB to be more aggressive in its marketing. There is obviously a broken chain link in some of their carriers that are "leaking cisterns". Unless these are plugged, BB cannot achieve the momentum it needs going forward. And this remedial measure must be acted on fast. Some balance needs to be struck between their publicity efforts for their new phones and incentives to both buyers and carriers selling them ie. Major sponsorship at this stage of the game is throwing good money after bad, especially when those money can go directly to draw customers to BB. TH needs to tighten up his marketing strategies.

  • Have you all notice the nice new ads on TV for the Q10? I am impressed by the ads. Keep those coming TH.
And Blackberry is a major sponsor on the Mercedes Formula 1 cars, at least for the top Mercedes team of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. I like that kind of marketing too...get that high end (and medium end) name out there boys!
