T-Mobile USA (TMUS +1%) will unveil an unlimited phone upgrade program called Jump at a 2:30 PM ET event today, The Verge reports. The program, discussed in a CNET report earlier this year, would allow subs to pay the same price for a new phone as new customers, possibly in exchange for trading in their existing phones and paying a small monthly fee. T-Mobile eliminated traditional phone subsidies (and related contract requirements) earlier this year, but does offer installment plans for the iPhone and other high-end smartphones. The report comes at a time when AT&T (T) and Verizon (VZ) are starting to require subs wait a full 24 months to receive a fresh subsidy.
