Microsoft Stores (MSFT +0.9%) are coming to China: COO Kevin Turner says the software giant will open its first Chinese retail store soon (he calls the move "very very strategic to us, big time"), and plans to grow its global store count to 101 from 75 in the next 12 months. Last month, Microsoft announced deals to create 700 "Windows Stores" inside of Best Buy and Future Shop outlets.

What's the purpose? To replace the utterly useless after-sales service of its hardware vendors.

Other than that this is very redundant!

The purpose, which I think, would be to support Steve Ballmer's recent announcement that MSFT will be a "Devices and Services" company. With more direct stores, they intend to bring in several new innovative products ( devices), for user "touch and feel" and to create excitement. I think it is a solid move and will greatly help Nokia as well.

Give Microsoft some credit. Great move! Next should be India.
