Bill Ackman might struggle to raise a cool $1B in a week for a new stock fund, say several industry insiders. His new special investment vehicle comes with a three-year lockup for what at this point is a mysterious target. Speculation has hinged on a group of large-cap companies - including FedEx (FDX), ADT (ADT), Walgreen (WAG), and Mondeleze International (MDLZ) - not used to being roughed up by an activist investor with clout.
