China's automobile exports fell 20% Y/Y in June to continue a trend of sluggishness despite increasing demand across the globe. A major part of the problem in the nation is the proliferation of different auto makers, 140 at last count, which muddles the market. Even on its home turf the group lost nine percentage points of market share to foreign majors such as General Motors (GM), Ford (F), and Volkswagen (VLKAY.PK) over the last year.
