Marathon Petroleum (MPC) says it sees Q2 EPS coming in at $1.75-1.85. The figure includes a $0.12/ share charge for pension settlement expenses. The company says "lower crude oil price differentials and product realizations compared to spot market value" negatively affected the refining and marketing segment during the period. I think I am going to step into this one tomorrow. Right now, it is down close to 4% at 6 pm Monday time futures trading. I owned it in April, and still feel this is the premier name in the refining space. Valero and PSX are the other two I like. What can I say, I am a sucker for the refiners. Eventually the street will see the value in these names. Goldman came out saying that Marathon was the cheapest stock period back in April.

Gas prices keep going up. The vice president of Gulf oil came out on CNBC and said that oil is going down to $50 a barrel by year end. Good, the refiners is where I want to be. License to print money. High gas prices and cheap oil.

The reason gas prices are going up is the RIN;s $1.32 today, Refiners take a hit on RIN's http://bit.ly/16Fd7XJ
