Apple (AAPL) is talking with TV networks and cable providers about a service that would let users skip ads and compensate networks when they do so, sources tell former WSJ reporter Jessica Lessin. However, she adds it isn't clear how the feature would differ from the ad-skipping abilities of DVRs. Bloomberg recently reported of a pending deal to give Time Warner Cable subs the ability to watch via Apple TV. Also: The Korea Economic Daily reports Samsung (SSNLF.PK)  will produce Apple's A9 CPU, via a 14nm process, starting in 2015. The report comes shortly after ones stating Apple will tap TSMC (TSM) to make 20nm chips in 2014, and (if true) suggests Apple is going for a dual-supplier strategy.

The difference between that and a Dvr to skip would not having to grab the remote every 8 minutes

Siri is surely coming to the television interface.

Apple appear to be rescuing the traditional TV industry in a similar way they did the music industry. All TV companies, streaming or traditional cable and media companies, are always challenged for content. Apple let the industry provide the content and will create the playback experience that consumers find seamless. Apple has stayed away from content, preferring to get in front of all content and be the conduit for it.

With IBM and Samsung using ARM for their 14nm technology. ARM is looking strong going forward. With Apple using the ARM instruction set in their A series, as well, Intel look challenged on the mobile front.

This points to the benefits of the fabless model that Apple use. They have the flexibility to add the best at any point in time. By playing the top foundries against one another they can leverage pricing as well.

This sounds similar to Dish TV's Hopper DVR which has a feature that automatically skips commercials. But I also heard that Dish is being sued by several networks because of this.

But besides that, I notice that Apple just can't seem to shake it's reliance on Samsung.
