    "Mixed Earnings Report From GE"

You see, this is the type of headline you get when you only look at the top and bottom line numbers. The was a pretty decent quarter by GE when you consider the situation in Europe & Brazil and the currency headwinds they faced. GE Capital shrunk at a faster then expected pace and emerging market sales were strong. Plus, Europe seems to be bottoming out. The backlog in orders also grew substancially. Look for a 10% increase in the dividend later this fall to push the shareprice higher.

Let the Immelt bashing begin!!! But I think he's doing a decent job under somewhat difficult economic conditions by refocusing the business on core growth areas (like oil & gas) that should pay off in the future. I'm a shorter term holder of GE stock with a $16 cost basis and I'm pretty happy today.

I agree, this news along with dividend increase and buybacks are going to push this north of $25 for the first time since 2008. This is good news for shareholders.
