Poland once looked like it could be the great European shale play, but early enthusiasm faded amid disappointing well results and tax changes, prompting some impatient players to leave. But keeping the faith in Polish shale is Chevron (CVX), which says it's ready to stick it out for another five years. CVX's best sales pitch: Let us frack, or be dependent on Russia for your gas.
